Jude must risk venturing back into the treacherous Faerie Court, and confront her lingering feelings for Cardan, if she wishes to save her sister. But Elfhame is not as she left it. War is brewing. As Jude slips deep within enemy lines she becomes ensnared in the conflict’s bloody politics.
And, when a dormant yet powerful curse is unleashed, panic spreads throughout the land, forcing her to choose between her ambition and her humanity…

The Review
The final book in The Folk of the Air Series wasn't exactly what I expected. It was a fun, quick read and while I loved how it ended, I don't think it was as good as its counterparts. Take that with a grain of salt because typically, final books in the series that I love don't leave me satisfied simply because it's the end. In particularly though, I felt as though this was a slow read compared to the last book. I wasn't as invested in the relationship between the sisters, the danger didn't really feel....dangerous. I even missed Cardan being a complete douche in this one. What happened to the edge between Jude and Cardan?!
I love them and I always will but the stakes just didn't seem particularly high, I knew they would win the day. Maybe this is just a "me" thing though. Don't get me wrong, Jude had me chuckling as always and Cardan got me hot and bothered as usual. It's just that it was all quite predictable. I loved the first two because much of it took me by surprise but that was missing here. I like when things end happily but this felt a bit awkward. That's all I really have to say about this ending. It was a nice story, the wit wasn't lacking completely but it wasn't memorable for me. I will say that I absolutely love Holly Block's descriptions of the world and the food and the culture. I could do without so much about clothing though, but occasionally it is cool to picture these incredible gowns and the armor was badass. But "too much of any good thing..."
I give this three out of five stars. It wasn't that it was a bad story and I hope I don't give that impression, because I did stay up all night so that I could keep reading. It just didn't feel as life or death as the others and I'm not left feeling sad to say goodbye to these characters. It was just a good ending though and not the fireworks I think it could have been.
